Growing Monster Monsteras.

Growing Monster Monsteras
and other assorted greenery indoors!

Growing monster monsteras, commonly confused with philodendrons, is quite simple and allows for a variety of other additions for your living space.

All you need is a Fish Tank, a planter box with two holes drilled at one end, clay hydroton, a few easy fish, fish food, and you're ready to go! Have the water pump in the fish tank put the water into the far end of the hydroton bed and watch the filtration system turn into a water feature for your house, releasing negative ions into the air, cleans the air you breath by adding innumerable plants and leaves, and adding the sounds of nature into your house! Put plants like monsteras, philodendrons, bamboo, dieffanbachia; or certain types of leafy greens like tomatoes, lettuce, watercress, kale, etc.

Our system has been in operation for approximately three (3) years now. We've cleaned the fish tank once when we moved; but otherwise the only maintenance we do is adding water about once a week and feeding the fish. Recently we've experienced a major loss in the fish tank and are down to about five (5) fish (down from thirteen).  Our largest leaves started growing last summer and are continuing to get bigger with each new growth spurt. The largest of these, in the middle right of the photo above, is approximately 18 inches and still growing.

Always choose simple indoor gardening to bring life indoors. You'll be so much happier during the long winters!
